Tools for conversations that matter.
The Speaking Bug Library is a growing collection of practical tools for people who design, facilitate and lead conversations, learning and change. Not quick fixes. Not exercises for the sake of interaction. Each tool helps you think more deliberately about what you are inviting people into - and gives you practical ways to turn that intention into action.

A check-in can create connection; or put people on the spot.
A workshop format can invite participation; or quietly decide whose voice gets heard.
A well-intended question can open a conversation; or close it down.
That is why the Speaking Bug Library doesn't start with What exercise should I use?
It starts with a different question:
What am I inviting people into?
The tools in this Library combine practical formats with the thinking behind them, so you can make choices that fit your people, purpose and context.

The Invitation Model
Every tool in the Speaking Bug Library is built around a simple principle:
Participation is something we invite, not something we extract.
Instead of asking only What method should I use?, consider three questions:
1. What am I inviting people into? | Intention
What kind of participation, reflection, learning or conversation are you trying to make possible?
2. What can this group carry today? | Capacity
What level of openness, vulnerability or participation is appropriate for these people, at this moment?
3. What does this conversation need? | Context
What does the purpose, setting and relationship between the people in the room ask of you?
Together, these questions help you design participation with more intention - while leaving people room to decide how they want to take part.
